Position Overview

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Car Processor to be based out of our Abbotsford, B.C. location. Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, this person will be responsible for dismantling vehicles at the car pad, as well as processing, moving, sorting, cutting and packaging the pieces of scrap metal for transport out of the yard.

Experience working in a labour environment, vehicle parts knowledge, running a bobcat, forklift and/or a torch/plasma cutter in a related industry is considered an asset. Most of all a good work ethic and a willingness to learn are the keys to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Removes tires, batteries, catalytic converters, radiators & mercury switches from vehicles.
  • Drains all fluids from vehicles.
  • Dismantles car parts and sort materials.
  • Cuts larger pieces of the vehicles into smaller pieces.
  • Packages and prepare material for transport.
  • Ensures fire prevention and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Previous labour experience preferred.
  • Must have strong vehicle parts knowledge.
  • Dexterity – the job is physically demanding.
  • Experience running a bobcat, forklift and/or a torch/plasma cutter in a related industry is considered an asset.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on safety are constantly required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
