The mission of CPLC's Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is to promote the health, well-being, and stability of refugees, unaccompanied alien children, and other eligible individuals and families, through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?As a Youth Care Worker (YCW), you will play a vital, hands-on role in supporting refugee and immigrant youth in a residential setting. You will ensure the safety, well-being, and positive development of children and youth by providing direct supervision, structure, and compassionate care.
You will support daily routines, guide positive behavior, and help create a stable, nurturing, and culturally responsive environment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will help foster a space where youth feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.
WHO YOU ARE?You are patient, dependable, and compassionate, with a genuine desire to support youth who have experienced trauma and displacement. You thrive in a structured environment while remaining flexible and responsive to the needs of children and adolescents.
You bring strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust and rapport with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds. You are a team player who understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and empathy in youth development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education and Background Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional coursework or training in child welfare, social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children or adolescents in a child welfare, residential, or behavioral health setting.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that meets organizational insurance requirements.
- Must be able to pass all background checks successfully.
