Manager, Learning & Development

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Learning & Development based in Canada.

This is a strategic people development role focused on building learning programs that drive employee growth, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance. You will lead a centralized Learning & Development function supporting a global and decentralized workforce, ensuring learning initiatives align with business priorities and evolving talent needs. Working closely with HR and business leaders, you will identify capability gaps and develop impactful learning solutions that enhance employee success at every stage of their career journey. The role combines program strategy, team leadership, stakeholder management, and learning technology oversight. You will be responsible for delivering engaging development experiences, managing learning platforms, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. This opportunity is ideal for a collaborative leader who enjoys shaping talent development strategies and creating measurable business impact through learning.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to assess organizational learning needs, identify skill gaps, and develop scalable learning strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of learning and development programs, including leadership development, management training, and enterprise-wide learning initiatives.
  • Oversee compliance training and mandatory learning programs in collaboration with legal, compliance, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the organization's learning management system (LMS), ensuring effective administration, reporting, user engagement, and program delivery.
  • Develop communication and engagement strategies to increase participation, awareness, and adoption of learning initiatives.
  • Establish governance frameworks, prioritization processes, and operational rhythms for learning programs and projects.
  • Monitor learning outcomes, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of learning professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
Requirements:
  • 5–8+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing learning programs and partnering with business leaders to address organizational capability needs.
  • Strong background in leadership and management development program design and delivery.
  • Experience managing the full learning lifecycle, including needs assessment, instructional design, development, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and modern learning methodologies.
  • Change management certification or formal training in change management practices.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably Workday Learning.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience leading or mentoring teams is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within a global or decentralized organization and bilingual proficiency in English and French are strong advantages.
