The Whitford is a brand-new luxury Senior Living community opening in September 2026 in Dublin, California. Offering Assisted Living and Memory Care, The Whitford is designed to redefine senior living through exceptional hospitality, personalized care, and meaningful connections.

Managed by Momentum Senior Living, The Whitford offers the unique opportunity to join a founding leadership team and create an engaging, vibrant lifestyle program from the ground up. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and resident-focused Director of Life Enrichment to develop experiences that inspire purpose, foster connection, and enhance the well-being of every resident.

Position Summary

The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for developing, planning, and leading a comprehensive lifestyle program that supports residents' physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and recreational well-being. This leadership role oversees all community activities, special events, volunteer programs, transportation services, and resident engagement initiatives while supervising the Life Enrichment team.

Working collaboratively with all departments, the Director of Life Enrichment creates meaningful experiences that reflect each resident's interests, abilities, and preferences while promoting an active and fulfilling lifestyle.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Resident Programming & Engagement

Develop, schedule, and oversee a robust calendar of daily, weekly, and monthly activities designed to enrich residents' lives.

Plan and coordinate fitness classes, educational programs, arts and crafts, games, music, cultural experiences, religious services, clubs, and off-site excursions.

Create engaging opportunities that support residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Encourage resident participation through clubs, committees, leadership opportunities, and peer-led initiatives.

Develop individualized engagement opportunities that reflect residents' interests and life experiences.

Community Events & Hospitality

Coordinate signature community events, holiday celebrations, family gatherings, resident recognition programs, and special occasions.

Collaborate with Dining Services, Health & Wellness, Marketing, and other departments to create memorable resident experiences.

Build and maintain relationships with entertainers, instructors, community organizations, volunteers, guest speakers, and local partners.

Create a welcoming, energetic, and inclusive community atmosphere that promotes connection and belonging.

Communication & Resident Information

Prepare and distribute attractive daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars.

Develop promotional materials for resident events and programs.

Maintain the community engagement platform with current activity schedules, resident news, announcements, and family communications.

Support community marketing initiatives and social media content by highlighting resident life and special events.

Leadership & Team Development

Recruit, supervise, schedule, coach, and develop the Life Enrichment and Transportation teams.

Manage payroll, performance evaluations, staff development, and ongoing training.

Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on resident satisfaction and exceptional hospitality.

Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage for programs, events, and transportation services.

Operations & Budget Management

Manage departmental budgets while maintaining high-quality programming.

Oversee purchasing of activity supplies, equipment, seasonal décor, and program materials.

Coordinate vendor relationships, contracts, and invoice approvals.

Ensure departmental compliance with company policies, community standards, and regulatory requirements.

Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.

Requirements:

Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Hospitality, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous supervisory or management experience required.

Previous experience in senior living required.

Experience recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers is preferred.

Experience planning events, activities, or lifestyle programming.

Ability to confidently lead classes, facilitate group activities, and engage diverse audiences.

Outstanding interpersonal, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.

Strong customer service orientation with a passion for enhancing the lives of older adults.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Canva and community engagement platforms is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and actively participate in community programs throughout the workday.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.

Ability to transport supplies, decorate event spaces, and assist with event setup and breakdown.

Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support resident programs and special events.
