Job Summary:
The Harvard Ed Portal is a collaborative partnership between Harvard University, the City of Boston, the Harvard Allston Task Force, and the Allston-Brighton community. The Ed Portal is the Allston-Brighton community’s front door to Harvard’s educational resources (virtual and in person) in arts, wellness, and workforce and economic development. The Harvard Ed Portal’s Workforce Development Program focuses on supporting unemployed and underemployed Allston Brighton and Cambridge community members in their career explorations and searches.
The Harvard Ed Portal Professional Workforce Ready (PWR) and Pathways Programs focus on assisting individuals in Allston Brighton and Cambridge in entering in-demand careers in industries with well-paying opportunities that offer pathways for growth at multiple entry points. Cambridge, Allston, and Brighton are hubs for STEM, including Healthcare and the Life Sciences industry. However, the Greater Boston area is rich with future-focused and climate-resistant industries that also provide excellent opportunities for professionals with various levels of education and training through credentials. The PWR Program, prepares adult learners with the professional skills to succeed in any 21st century career environment.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Program Development and Delivery
Support the development of and manage the delivery of Professional Workforce Ready (PWR), Pathways, and related programs and curricula
Develop and oversee the delivery of culturally and developmentally appropriate professional and technical skills trainings for diverse cohorts of adult learners
Maintain a current knowledge and awareness of workforce and economic trends and forecasts and a to-date understanding of career opportunities available within our region.
Create and deliver Pathway Programs including but not limited to: biotech/life sciences; healthcare; architecture, engineering, & construction; IT, technology & innovation; green/climate sustainable jobs; and other industries with broad, well-paying, growth opportunities.
Provide direct case management to individual cohort participants (trainees/interns) to mitigate attrition due to social and economic barriers and increase persistence and success in program completion and credential attainment
Maintain consistent communication with employer partners, internship hosts, volunteers, contractors, and external partners throughout program planning and execution to provide support, ensure a positive collaborative experience and offer proactive troubleshooting
Partnership Management
Communicate with local workforce and adult ed partners to increase awareness of PWR, and Pathways programming and share information about connected training opportunities
Plan and publicize a clear schedule for internal training programs, PWR and Pathways opportunities, including application cycles, qualifications, topics and industries
Develop a referral process and network of nonprofit, adult ed, workforce, and employer partners to recruit diverse qualified participants from Allston, Brighton, & Cambridge
Steward strong relationships with existing local anchor employers and develop and maintain relationships with new employer partners, training program providers, and workforce development boards
Develop and steward strong relationships with internal Harvard partners and external partners providing training, credentialing, or employment opportunities for Allston, Brighton, and Cambridge residents
Represent the Workforce and Economic Development team at relevant events, meetings, and on committees related to career training and pathways programs, biotech/life sciences; architecture, engineering, & construction; IT, technology & innovation; green/climate sustainable jobs; etc.
Marketing and Outreach
In collaboration with HPAC marketing team, create advertising and marketing campaigns for new and updated career pathways and training programs
Create, maintain, and leverage a database of program partners and supporters for outreach, referrals, recruitment, and program delivery, curriculum development, and Pathways Program sessions
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
3 years’ minimum relevant experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated success in project planning and program management.
Demonstrated knowledge of current workforce trends and regional employment opportunities.
Proven track record for developing professional, working relationships with various stakeholders in a community program setting.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Preference for prior experience in adult education, career training program design, delivery, and evaluation, or presentation and facilitation of adult-facing workforce development programs
Bi-lingual a plus.
Experience with small business development initiatives and understanding of entrepreneurial economy
Strong research and analytical skills; ability to effectively organize and display data.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
Ability to collaborate closely with internal team members toward programmatic, site-based, departmental, and larger university initiatives and goals.
Professional experience career coaching adults with diverse levels of educational attainment, career experience, ages, industry interests, abilities, and across other lines of difference
Position requires some evening and weekend hours.

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
