Under moderate supervision, assists Master Waste & Recycling Technician, or Waste & Recycling Technician Class 1 or 2 by helping load and transport various waste materials or surplus items using large waste collection vehicle, box truck, or stake body. Additionally, may be required to operate a small utility vehicle to collect trash, recycling, or organic waste (compost) throughout campus. Duties and Responsibilities:	Hooks up and/or operates compactors, waste receptacles, and dumpsters throughout campus. Operates vehicle in accordance with all local, municipal, state and federal laws. Immediately reports any unsafe situations to supervisor or Public Safety. Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by the University. Works closely with supervisor to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. Follows route assignments as directed and completes any required documentation. Immediately notifies supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. Notifies supervisor of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, street, alleyways, or potential safety hazards. Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement. Performs any necessary housekeeping in and around trash enclosures, truck, or other equipment. Carries out all job duties as defined under other job classifications normally assigned to the Grounds Division, such as Gardener. Performs other duties assigned within the normal scope of the department’s responsibilities and the individual’s capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:	Ability to follow both verbal and written directions. Ability to interact with customers (students, faculty, administration) in a positive and helpful manner. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach, and to lift (up to 60 lbs.). At least three years of successful work experience in a laboring job.
