Responsibilities
The Material Handler ensures appropriate quantity of correct material is maintained to support production needs by loading, unloading, moving, and blending raw materials and other supplies in support of the production schedule. This individual operates, sets up and performs routine cleaning and maintenance of selected equipment and performs any combination of following duties:
- Maintains a supply of raw materials at each operating work cell or machine to prevent production interruptions.
- Anticipates material requirements for job setups and loads dryers in advance of scheduled startups.
- Reads work order and/or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Conveys materials to or from storage to designated work cell or area, using hand truck, electric walk or stand up fork lift truck.
- Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or fork lift.
- Maintains inventory accuracy by conducting transactions in ERP system using bar code scanners in a timely manner.
- Reports all non-scanned material movements to Supervisor and Logistics department.
- Attaches identification tags or labels to materials and/or marks information on cases, bags, drums, or other containers.
- Assists set-up with placement of portable conveyors, grinders, workbenches and other auxiliary equipment to and from work cells.
- Tears down, cleans and prepares necessary equipment for future material needs.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators.
- Performs simple adjustments, maintenance or repairs such as; cleaning or replacing loader gaskets and filters, cleaning dryer filters, cleaning grinders and dryers, water tanks, conveyors, loaders, grinders, drill presses, and molding machines.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of one year manufacturing experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to all employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must be able to use measuring devices such as rules, weight scales and machine instrumentation.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Other Skills & Abilities:
- Must maintain valid forklift driver's license.

The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift or move up to 100lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour (Pay to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data).
