Westside Health Authority is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of residents in Chicago’s West Side communities, including Austin, Garfield Park, and Lawndale. WHA empowers individuals and strengthens neighborhoods through employment opportunities, education, youth development, community wellness, housing initiatives, violence prevention, and community engagement.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Resource Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) initiatives designed to support student achievement, family engagement, community partnerships, and whole-child development. This position serves as a liaison between students, families, educators, school administrators, community organizations, and stakeholders to ensure equitable access to resources, opportunities, and support services.

The Resource Coordinator facilitates collaborative planning, community engagement, leadership development, program implementation, and data-driven decision-making aligned with the Sustainable Community Schools framework. The position promotes community voice, shared leadership, educational equity, and meaningful family and youth participation in school improvement efforts.

The Resource Coordinator works closely with school leadership, students, families, community partners, and the SCS Leadership Team to strengthen school-community connections and improve outcomes for students and families.

This position is subject to continued funding availability, program performance requirements, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) guidelines, and organizational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership & Program Coordination

• Coordinate implementation of Sustainable Community Schools initiatives and activities in partnership with school leadership and community stakeholders.

• Facilitate and support the Sustainable Community Schools Leadership Team, ensuring representation from students, parents, educators, school staff, and community members.

• Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate monthly leadership team meetings and maintain meeting agendas, minutes, attendance records, and action plans.

• Assist in developing and implementing school-wide strategies aligned with Sustainable Community Schools goals and priorities.

• Support collaborative decision-making processes that encourage shared leadership and community participation.

• Monitor program activities and ensure compliance with grant requirements, school objectives, and funding expectations.

Community Engagement & Partnership Development

• Conduct community asset mapping and needs assessments to identify resources, service gaps, opportunities, and community priorities.

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with students, families, educators, school staff, community organizations, and stakeholders.

• Engage families, students, educators, and community members through outreach efforts, meetings, events, and engagement activities.

• Support the development and implementation of strategies designed to increase stakeholder participation and engagement.

• Promote meaningful inclusion of individuals and groups historically underrepresented in school decision-making processes.

• Establish and maintain partnerships that enhance resources, services, and opportunities available to students and families.

Strategic Planning & Program Implementation

• Facilitate Needs and Assets Assessment processes and assist in translating findings into school improvement plans and program priorities.

• Coordinate implementation of programs and services that align with school goals, community needs, and funding requirements.

• Assist school leadership and community partners with identifying and developing sustainable programming opportunities.

• Support planning and implementation of educational, family engagement, enrichment, wellness, and community-based initiatives.

• Monitor program participation, outcomes, and performance indicators.

• Assist in developing recommendations for continuous program improvement and sustainability.

Program Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate attendance records, participant rosters, sign-in sheets, and required program documentation.

• Enter and maintain participant and program data in Cityspan and other required reporting systems.

• Coordinate timesheets, reimbursement requests, check requests, instructor payments, and supporting documentation.

• Prepare reports and maintain records required by funders, Chicago Public Schools, and organizational leadership.

• Ensure compliance with all CPS policies, procedures, grant requirements, and organizational standards.

• Maintain confidentiality of participant, family, and school information.

Collaboration & Professional Development

• Participate in required training, professional development opportunities, coaching sessions, and communities of practice.

• Collaborate with school administrators, educators, students, families, and community partners to support program goals.

• Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and improvement.

• Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, community meetings, and organizational events as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the SCS Leadership Team, school administration, or organizational leadership.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, Human Services, Sociology, or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education, youth development, community engagement, program coordination, family engagement, social services, or a related field preferred.

• Experience working with schools, community-based organizations, youth, families, and diverse populations preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, build partnerships, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

• Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools systems, procedures, and community resources preferred.

• Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages reflective of the school community) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of community school models, youth development, family engagement, and community-based programming.

• Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to build effective relationships with students, families, educators, community partners, and stakeholders.

• Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to facilitate meetings, lead discussions, and engage diverse groups of stakeholders.

• Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing program data and outcomes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and database management systems.

• Experience utilizing Cityspan or similar data management systems preferred.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.

• Commitment to educational equity, community empowerment, cultural responsiveness, and collaborative leadership.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a school, office, community, and field-based environment. Duties require frequent interaction with students, families, educators, community organizations, and stakeholders. Local travel throughout Chicago may be required. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary to support meetings, family engagement activities, community events, and school-based programming.

Must successfully pass all required Chicago Public Schools background screening requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: Commensurate with experience
