What You Will Do
Reporting to our VP, Accounting, your main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or SAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Overseeing general ledger activities, including reviewing reconciliations, ensuring proper journal entries, and resolving discrepancies.
- Leading month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Owning audit processes by coordinating with external auditors, preparing documentation, and ensuring timely completion of GAAP and statutory audits.
- Managing relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Developing, documenting, and maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting, while identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Mentoring and developing accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience operating in a regulated environment (insurance or public accounting experience preferred).
- Proven experience supporting audits, managing close processes, and implementing internal controls.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for stakeholders.
