About This Position

Description:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to support the CFO in leading accounting, treasury, secured lender reporting, and financial planning as well as strengthen internal controls and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, steel, or similar project-driven industries, with a strong understanding of job costing, inventory, and operational accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist CFO in…

  • Accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Lead job costing, WIP analysis, margin reviews, and variance reporting.
  • Support operations with cost analysis for fabrication, labor, trucking, and inventory.
  • Oversee inventory management, cycle counts, and cost-of-goods accuracy.
  • Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and banking relationships.
  • Implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Financial modeling, scenario planning, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a closely related field. Strong analytical and financial acumen required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • CPA strongly preferred (or equivalent advanced credentials).
  • Experience in construction, steel, rebar fabrication, or manufacturing industries.
  • Expertise in job costing, WIP, inventory accounting, and project financial controls.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accounting teams and develop staff.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and ERP / fabrication systems (e.g., Business Central, Soule, etc.).
  • Background in companies with internal trucking, fabrication, or multi-site operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
  • Experience supporting fast-paced, growing businesses with complex operational workflows.
