Description:

Tanglewood Resort is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Golf Maintenance Engineer to help maintain the championship-quality conditions of our golf course. This position is responsible for performing turfgrass maintenance, landscaping, irrigation support, equipment operation, and general groundskeeping duties to ensure the course remains in exceptional playing condition for guests and members. Candidates with spray technician experience or pesticide application knowledge are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, and other specialized turf equipment.
  • Mow greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas according to established course standards.
  • Rake, edge, and maintain sand bunkers to ensure optimal playability and appearance.
  • Perform trimming, edging, pruning, and debris removal throughout the golf course property.
  • Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repairs, and hand-watering of greens and other turf areas as needed.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other turf treatments as directed and in accordance with applicable regulations and safety standards.
  • Monitor turf conditions and report disease, pest, irrigation, drainage, or safety concerns.
  • Maintain landscaped areas, including flower beds, trees, shrubs, pathways, and common areas.
  • Assist with golf course setup, including hole placement, tee marker positioning, signage placement, and special event preparation.
  • Support seasonal maintenance projects such as aeration, overseeding, topdressing, drainage improvements, and turf renovation.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report significant maintenance concerns, equipment issues, accidents, injuries, or safety hazards.
  • Ensure proper care, use, storage, and maintenance of all tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Deliver exceptional guest service while maintaining guest privacy and safety throughout the property.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and assist in other departmental functions as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, agriculture, or related field preferred.
  • Spray technician experience and/or pesticide applicator certification preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, and golf course maintenance practices preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality course conditions.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

Measurements of Success

  • Golf course conditions consistently meet established quality and playability standards.
  • Completion of assigned maintenance tasks accurately, safely, and on schedule.
  • Compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Positive feedback from guests, members, management, and golf operations staff.
  • Effective teamwork, communication, and support of departmental goals.
  • Proper maintenance and care of assigned equipment and tools.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous golf course maintenance, landscaping, turfgrass, agriculture, or grounds maintenance experience preferred.
  • Texas pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain certification is preferred.
  • Sufficient literacy and communication skills to read product labels, safety information, equipment manuals, and work instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English preferred.
