Job Description Summary
The Counseling Center at Bentley University has an opening for a consulting Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work 10 hours over two days each week during the academic year. Schedule can be flexible, but candidate must be available on Tuesdays between 10 and 11am.Job Description
Essential Functions:
- The person in the position will be responsible for consultation, medication evaluations, prescriptions, and follow up visits for students.
- Most work will be with students experiencing moderate mood and anxiety symptoms; however, the psychiatrist will also be expected to evaluate and/or prescribe for students who are presenting more severely while they are being referred out for more intensive services.
- Position involves close collaboration with staff psychologist and doctoral interns, so demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is required.
- Experience with a college age population or interest in this area is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a short term model.
- Good connections with the community for referrals outside of the Counseling Center are desirable.
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will not be expected to be on call, however, should be available for questions or issues that arise with patients on days they are not on campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced Practice Nursing Degree from an accredited school with specialization in psychiatric/mental health nursing required.
- Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses.
- At least two years of post-license experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an emergency room/department.
- Previous work with college aged population.
- Experience with a diverse population is preferred.
Compensation: $140/hour. No work during academic breaks or summer.
