Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Supervisor to deliver high-quality patient care at our Suffolk House of Correction location in Boston, MA. The Nurse Supervisor will provide direct nursing care and/or oversight in a jail setting while observing and maintaining the requirements of security.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
• Responsible for oversight of all aspects of inmate’s/detainee's care.
• Ensure physician’s medication orders and treatments are implemented appropriately. Complete audit rounds in the medical housing units and the HSU at least two times/week and complete documentation, as required.
• Apply knowledge of drugs and therapeutics for medications in a jail setting. Maintain security of medications, continually cognizant of the potential hazard of drug hoarding and trafficking among inmates.
• Monitor procedures for patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health providers.
• Prepares regularly scheduled reports and special reports as necessary.
• Oversees the proper storage, accountability and wasting of all sharps.
• Participate in in-service education, obtaining at least 40 hours annually and provide documentation.
• Follow all security rules and regulations.
• Cover vacant shifts when necessary.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Notifies the DON or designee immediately on any emergent send-outs or significant events.
• Pager Coverage/ Rotation as determined by D.O.N. and/ or H.S.A.
• Monitor intake/ sick call/ chronic disease/ healthcare needs of inmates.
• Monitor and manage nursing schedule, when needed.
• Attend meetings with the D.O.N. and/ or H.S.A. as requested.
• It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
• Checking/ responding to nursing emails.
• HSU cleaning inspection as assigned.
• Assist with training as assigned.
• Assist with other duties as assigned
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, evening shift from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, with every other weekend rotation required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
- Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program. Baccalaureate degree preferred but not required.
• Currently licensed RN or LPN in Massachusetts where duties and responsibilities are being performed.
• Holds current CPR certification.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to apply principles of nursing care.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of mental illness, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, and substance use disorders.
• Demonstrate the ability to draw blood and administer PPD tests.
