JOB TITLE: Housekeeping Manager
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
REPORTS TO: General Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the daily ownership and efficient operational execution of the Housekeeping Department. Manages and leads to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and to provide a memorable guest experience through the anticipation of guest’s needs and providing exceptional service to support the hotel and department standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service to guests and team members.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
• Guide guests and team members and answer questions as needed.
• To oversee the day-to-day operations in areas relating to the Housekeeping
Department and to administer the Supervision of all the housekeeping staff.
• Conduct morning meetings to inform, motivate and develop team members.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness & health and safety throughout the hotel.
• Handle guest concerns and address departmental issues.
• Forecast and use of departmental budgets.
• Monitor and control cleaning supplies and amenities, and record all stock and maintain control of all issued.
• Ensure daily room inspections are conducted and completed, including the follow-up of such inspections with all work groups: Laundry Attendant, Room Attendant, and House Attendant.
• Inspect and ensure cleanliness of public areas, storage areas, and back of the house areas.
• Create and assign special projects where needed ensuring physical product is up to standards.
• Maintain operating equipment care and maintenance program.
• Monitor time and attendance ensuring all employees adhere to break policy.
• Schedule staff according to labor standards, occupancy forecast and upcoming events.
• Manage, close, and edit payroll entries
• Train all new housekeeping staff members, to ensure adherence to hotel standards and safety regulations including the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
• Lead activities such as talent management, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action.
• Participate in the recruitment process of team members including interviewing and hiring.
• Ensure lost & found procedures are respected by the entire team.
• Oversee the successful operations of the laundry room.
• Conduct regular audits and work with partners such as Ecolab to ensure compliance.
• Oversee engagement activities for the entire team.
• Oversee the successful execution of housekeeping standards to meet guest expectations.
• Report and action immediately on any faulty equipment, linen shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards, and other issues.
• Ensure that the Housekeeping Department operates according to company policies and procedures.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards, and correct maintenance and use of equipment.
• Implement new procedures for continuous improvement.
• Conduct self-audits of standards and participate in the feedback review of audits.
• Approach all encounters with guests, colleagues and team members in a professional and personalized manner.
• Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and that all team members are committed to working safely.
• Comply with hotel security, fire, health and safety regulations.
• Attend operations meetings, and other types of meetings during the week.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Previous equivalent housekeeping leadership experience is preferred.
· 3 years of housekeeping experience required.
· Ability to read and interpret simple instructions both in writing and verbally.
· Commitment to excellence and high standards.
· Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
· Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
· Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
· Must be flexible to work AM and/or PM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
· Versatile, flexible and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
· Understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
· Must provide valid document(s) to work in the U.S.
· Must meet legal age requirements for the position.
· Must be able to coach, counsel and develop employees.

· Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds.
· Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
EDUCATION:· High school diploma or equal to a GED.
· Basic Math skills.
· Computer proficiency with MS Office and PEP required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Able to communicate well in English both verbally and written.
· Able to communicate in Spanish a strong asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing these duties, the employee may be exposed to inclement weather conditions.
GROOMING & UNIFORM:
Employee must wear a uniform at all times during scheduled hours. Uniforms that have been tampered or destroyed will be the responsibility of the employee and disciplinary action will apply.
· Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, grooming, and appearance, while adhering to all Company sanitation and safety policies.
· Antiperspirant or deodorant must be worn.
· Any offensive self-inflicted marking tattoo on the body cannot be observed by the public.
· Name tags must always be worn unless your department has a specific policy to the contrary.
Pay Range: $70k to $80k per year
