Database Systems Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Database Systems Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support complex healthcare technology environments through advanced database engineering, software development, and systems integration.
You will contribute to critical initiatives involving enterprise healthcare applications, databases, and testing frameworks.
The position combines technical expertise in software engineering, architecture analysis, and data systems with meaningful public-sector impact.
Working closely with engineering teams, stakeholders, and healthcare technology partners, you will help design, evaluate, and improve reliable technology solutions.

Accountabilities:

The Database Systems Engineer will provide software engineering, database, and integration support for enterprise healthcare technology systems. This role focuses on evaluating, implementing, testing, and improving technical solutions while ensuring systems meet architecture, security, and performance requirements.

  • Evaluate, implement, test, and manage technology solutions across complex enterprise environments.
  • Develop and execute architecture strategies, feasibility studies, and integration analyses.
  • Gather and define architecture requirements while ensuring solutions align with established IT standards and project guidelines.
  • Analyze application architectures, conduct risk assessments, and establish appropriate testing environments.
  • Support database development, software integration, and testing between applications, databases, and external systems.
  • Develop Python-based scripts, websites, and automation solutions to support engineering initiatives.
  • Work with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other database technologies in UNIX, VMS, and Windows environments.
  • Design and execute test cases, integration scenarios, and risk-based testing approaches.
  • Create technical reports, analysis documents, and architecture artifacts with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain architecture documentation using organizational tools, repositories, and established processes.
  • Collaborate with customers, project teams, technical stakeholders, and external partners during planning and execution activities.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while adapting to changing project requirements.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in software engineering, database systems, and enterprise architecture, with strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively. Experience in healthcare technology, government environments, and AI-enabled development tools is highly valued.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of overall information technology experience.
  • Proven experience in software engineering, application integration, architecture analysis, and system testing.
  • Strong experience working with Oracle or SQL Server databases in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Python development, Java, or J2EE applications.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and system architecture principles.
  • Experience designing test cases, performing integration testing, and applying risk-based testing methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems, VA environments, or government technology projects is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle Millennium, VA network environments, HP Quality Center, or Rational Clear Quest is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI tools for software development and data analysis is advantageous.
  • Ability to obtain required government security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
