Position SummaryThe Caregiver/Patient Sitter provides continuous observation, companionship, personal assistance, and safety monitoring for patients under the direction of licensed nursing staff or the supervising clinician. The caregiver helps promote patient comfort while maintaining a safe environment and promptly reporting any changes in the patient's condition.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide one-on-one supervision and companionship for patients.
- Maintain continuous observation of assigned patients as directed.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing
- Grooming
- Dressing
- Toileting
- Mobility and transfers
- Feeding assistance, when appropriate
- Assist with light housekeeping and meal preparation in home care settings.
- Help patients ambulate safely and reduce fall risks.
- Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or mental condition immediately to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, including appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, confidentiality, and respect in every patient interaction.
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous caregiver, sitter, CNA, home care, hospital, or long-term care experience preferred but not required.
- Compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain attentive and observant throughout assigned shifts.
- Ability to lift, transfer, reposition, and assist patients safely.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the Sherman and Denison service area.
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment screening requirements.

Requirements: Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience as a caregiver, patient sitter, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Personal Care Attendant (PCA), or direct care provider is preferred but not required.
- New caregivers are encouraged to apply. Paid training is provided.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe).
- Valid Texas Driver's License or government-issued identification.
- Reliable transportation.
Applicants must successfully complete:
- Criminal background check
- Drug screening
- Employment eligibility verification (I-9)
- Reference checks
- TB screening/testing (as required)
- Any additional health screenings or immunizations required by Aspen Healthcare or facility partners
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Observe patients closely and promptly report changes in condition to the supervising nurse or designated healthcare professional.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in stressful situations.
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work independently while remaining accountable to the healthcare team.
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Adapt quickly to different care environments, including hospitals, nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private homes.
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, push, pull, or assist with up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Assist patients with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and mobility.
- Bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and climb stairs as necessary.
- Respond quickly to patient needs and emergency situations.
- Maintain visual and auditory awareness while providing continuous patient observation.
- PRN (As Needed) position with flexible scheduling.
- Must be willing to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on patient needs.
- Ability to accept assignments on short notice is preferred.
- Must be willing to travel throughout the Sherman and Denison service area.
