Full-time Career Coach position for our YouthBuild Program

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Social Work, or related field or
Related Experience: Two years of experience working with workforce development or social service programs. Related work experience may be used in leu of education

Position Summary: The YouthBuild Career Coach provides individualized case management, coaching, and support to youth ages 16–24. The Career Coach helps participants address barriers, develop goals, coordinate supportive services, monitor progress, and support successful completion of education, training, and employment goals. The role also maintains accurate documentation for DOL and grant compliance while supporting leadership development, community service, career readiness, and transitions into employment, apprenticeships, or post-secondary education.

Qualifications:
Experience working with youth facing barriers to education and employment.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.
Strong communication, organization, computer, and case management skills.
Knowledge of community resources and workforce development services.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Essential Functions & Key Accountabilities:
Provide individualized case management, career coaching, and ongoing support to YouthBuild participants, helping address educational, employment, personal, social, and behavioral barriers.

Develop, maintain, and update Individual Service Strategies (ISS), assessments, goals, action plans, and participant progress.

Connect participants to appropriate supportive services, including housing, childcare, transportation, healthcare, mental health, legal assistance, and other community resources.

Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, employers, apprenticeship programs, trade unions, training providers, and education partners to support referrals and career opportunities.

Assist participants with career exploration, resumes, interview preparation, mock interviews, job search, employer referrals, and employment placement.

Monitor participant attendance, performance, training progress, credentials, milestones, and employment outcomes to ensure participants remain on track.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Salesforce CRM and other required systems, including case notes, assessments, attendance, services, progress, and outcomes.

Ensure participant files and program documentation support DOL YouthBuild requirements, grant compliance, reporting, audits, monitoring visits, and performance goals.

Monitor program activities to ensure quality and accuracy of SER outcomes in relation to contractual and grant commitments.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Salesforce CRM and other required systems, including case notes, assessments, attendance, services, progress, and outcomes.

Ensure participant files and program documentation support DOL YouthBuild requirements, grant compliance, reporting, audits, monitoring visits, and performance goals.

Support and participate in leadership development, service-learning, life-skills, workforce readiness, and community service activities.

Facilitate individual and group coaching sessions, workshops, trainings, and participant meetings as needed.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, program planning, community activities, and YouthBuild training opportunities.

Travel to partner sites, training locations, employers, and community locations as needed to support participants and program operations.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued success of the SERJobs YouthBuild Houston program.
