This role focuses on identifying, investigating, and managing activities that may indicate financial crime or fraud risk. You’ll analyze information from multiple sources, assess potential threats, and determine appropriate actions in line with established procedures. The position combines investigative work, data analysis, case management, and stakeholder support within a structured risk environment. You’ll contribute to the prevention of financial losses while helping strengthen detection and investigation processes. The role also provides opportunities to identify trends, improve procedures, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. You’ll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders while handling complex cases and escalations. This is a full-time remote position in Ontario, Canada, offering a strong opportunity to develop specialized expertise in financial crime risk.
- Investigate and assess activities, incidents, and account information that may indicate financial crime or fraud risk, documenting findings and determining appropriate next steps.
- Monitor and analyze data from detection systems, tools, reports, and manually collected sources to identify risks, patterns, and potential threats.
- Manage investigation and account case files by accurately documenting actions, evidence, intelligence, and relevant information throughout the investigation lifecycle.
- Support evidence gathering and information collection for incident reporting, loss prevention, legal or criminal proceedings, management reporting, statistics, and process improvement.
- Apply established financial crime management frameworks, procedures, standards, and investigative techniques while ensuring appropriate escalation of complex matters.
- Provide guidance, information, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders regarding incidents and investigative findings.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data summaries, using analysis to generate insights and recommendations.
- Process service requests, transactions, and inquiries within applicable service-level agreements and established operational guidelines.
- Stay informed about financial crime trends, applicable regulations, and compliance standards, and incorporate relevant developments into investigative practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and customer service, providing recommendations that enhance operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and ensure investigations and requests progress efficiently.
- Apply sound risk judgment when making decisions, protecting assets and adhering to applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulatory requirements.
- 2–3 years of relevant professional experience combined with a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of financial crime risk, fraud, compliance requirements, and applicable regulations is an asset.
- Familiarity with banking products, services, processes, and organizational structures is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information, identify issues, and determine appropriate actions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate investigative findings and recommendations clearly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple cases, records, and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive, team-oriented working environment.
- Ability to handle complex and varied tasks while working within established policies, procedures, and risk parameters.
- Comfortable analyzing data and information from multiple sources to identify trends, risks, and actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make informed, risk-based decisions.

- Salary range: CAD $38,500–$71,000, depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
