- Take ownership of complex, open-ended financial and business questions spanning multiple functions, bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problems.
- Analyze how different business areas generate revenue, identify key growth drivers, and assess the sustainability and quality of business performance.
- Connect individual business performance to the broader consolidated financial picture and provide insights into trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Build driver-based financial models, forecasts, and three-statement analyses from the ground up to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify, access, validate, and analyze the data required to answer business questions, working directly with SQL and BI tools when necessary.
- Improve in-year and long-range forecasting methodologies by strengthening key drivers, increasing accuracy, and making forecasting processes more efficient and transparent.
- Own the monthly and quarterly finance rhythm, partnering with business teams on performance reviews, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Establish and maintain consistent analytical and reporting standards across business areas.
- Challenge financial assumptions and underlying data while maintaining strong, trusted relationships with business partners.
- Translate complex financial and operational analysis into clear recommendations for senior finance leaders and business stakeholders.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities and proactively communicate their potential impact on business performance and strategic priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic finance, financial planning and analysis, business analysis, or a closely related field within a complex organization.
- Strong financial modelling capabilities, including experience building driver-based models and three-statement analyses from scratch.
- Hands-on experience working directly with data, including SQL or an equivalent querying language and a business intelligence platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex questions and identify the underlying drivers behind financial results.
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguous or previously unowned problems and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
- Strong business curiosity and intellectual rigor, with a willingness to dig deeply into numbers, challenge assumptions, and understand what is driving performance.
- Experience working within organizations with multiple revenue streams, business models, products, or operating units.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with both finance and non-finance partners.
- Sound judgment and the confidence to challenge numbers, assumptions, and established approaches constructively.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities.
- Strong ownership, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Availability to work within EST/EDT hours while being based anywhere in Canada.
- Compensation: Expected total compensation of approximately $120,000–$145,000 CAD, with actual compensation determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and market factors.
