Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

The Multi-Family Interior Designer supports the design and execution of apartment communities and other multi-family developments from initial concept through construction and installation.

The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop design concepts, finish palettes, mood boards, and presentations for multi-family projects.
  • Select and specify flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, plumbing, furniture, artwork, accessories, and other interior materials.
  • Prepare and maintain finish schedules, specifications, furniture plans, elevations, and supporting design documentation.
  • Produce and update AutoCAD drawings and coordinate design information with architectural and construction documents.
  • Source FF&E and evaluate products based on design, durability, budget, availability, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, purchasing teams, vendors, and internal project stakeholders.
  • Request and review samples, pricing, quotes, submittals, shop drawings, and product substitutions.
  • Maintain organized project files, schedules, budgets, meeting notes, and selection records.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, installations, model unit setups, and final styling.
  • Document construction progress, prepare punch lists, and assist with resolving design-related questions.
  • Support the continued development of department standards, templates, material libraries, and design processes.
  • Perform additional design and project-related responsibilities as business and project needs evolve.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, or a related field, preferred.
  • Three or more years of professional interior design experience preferred.
  • Experience in multi-family, hospitality, commercial, or residential design is beneficial.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the design, documentation, procurement, construction, and installation phases of a project.

Technical & Design Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management or specification software.
  • Ability to produce and review floor plans, furniture plans, elevations, finish plans, schedules, and interior details.
  • Strong understanding of interior architecture, space planning, construction documentation, finishes, materials, lighting, and FF&E.
  • Ability to balance design intent with budget, schedule, constructability, durability, and operational needs.

  • Professional and confident when communicating with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal teams.

Travel & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state for meetings, site visits, vendor appointments, and installations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local travel.
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites and assist with material samples, project installations, and installs.
  • Ability to lift and move samples, accessories, and small furnishings weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
