About the Role
Routesetters are responsible for bringing Bouldering Project’s vision of a best-in-class climbing experience to life. The role demands creativity, collaboration, professionalism, and a strong passion for climbing. We’re looking for individuals who value teamwork, craftsmanship, and community, and who bring a growth mindset to their daily work.
Boulderfest is the Bouldering Project's yearly competition series and demands the highest tier of routesetting possible. This position is a temporary role to set for SLC's Boulderfest. The role will be 40 hours of work between the days 9/14 - 9/19.
What You’ll Do
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Set and forerun 3–6 boulder problems per setting day, depending on level and experience
- Contribute to team forerunning and collaborative setting feedback sessions
- Support wall maintenance in hold stripping and cleaning
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized setting space and tools
- Execute tasks assigned by the Head Setter and maintain strong professional relationships with staff and team members
- Interact with guests and positively represent Bouldering Project in the community
- Uphold quality, safety, and inclusivity standards in all route design and execution
- Participate in community engagement through events and interactions
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of climbing experience
- 2+ years of commercial setting experience
- Ability to climb V6 in a variety of styles comfortably
- Strong teamwork, communication, and feedback skills
- Passion for climbing and building inclusive communities
- Ability to move 50 lbs on soft flooring and work on ladders or at height
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience setting circuits and/or for events
- USAC Routesetting certification

Compensation & Benefits
This is a temporary, hourly position. Compensation is based on experience between the Pay Band of $19 - $30 Hourly.
