Counselor II at Central Peninsula Hospital – Soldotna, Alaska

POSITION SUMMARY: Counselors provide direct clinical care to clients of the Behavioral Health Department both at Serenity House Treatment Center and at the Intake office location. This position must have a detailed understanding of the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and be able to work with a wide range of clients experiencing chemical dependency issues. Counselors provide individual, group and family therapy completing all required documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma/General Education Degree(GED).
• 2 years of Chemical Dependency Treatment experience.
• BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
• Chemical Dependency Counselor II or National Chemical Dependency Counselor Certitfication.
• Understanding of chemical dependency and mental health problems combined with a willingness to effectively intervene with families in crisis.
• Good communication skills, outgoing personality and excellent professional boundaries.
• Must be computer literate and able to accurately document clinical interventions.

PREFERRED:

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences
• Specific alcoholism/drug counseling training with internship period.
• Chemical Dependency Counselor Supervisor Certification
