Job Description
As a Pharmacy Service Tech, you are Responsible for all requests placed on the Pharmacy Line, including recording pertinent information in the patient's chart and completion of all necessary paperwork. Assists in the delivery of primary healthcare and patient care management as required. Able to double as a Medical Assistant and perform MA duties.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Responsible for all messages on Pharmacy Line, including pulling patient charts and clarifying medicine dosage, last refill date. Also verifies if the patient is active within the last two years, and if the patient is not active, is responsible for mailing an appointment reminder.
- Calling all refills back to pharmacies and posting information in the patient’s chart.
- Filling out and following up on prescription authorization forms.
- Involves direct communication with physicians when the medication dose or availability through the insurance formulary is in question.
- Handling all refill requests generated through the Rx2000 Software.
- Arranging samples for patients
- Coordinating and problem-solving with any issue related to prescriptions.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists (ACS) Mission.
- Maintains established ACS policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Cross-training as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
- Previous Medical Office experience (preferred)
- Computer experience
- CPT Certification
- ICD9, CPT, HCPCS Coding

This position requires a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
