Underwriting Representative in Jefferson City, Missouri at State of Missouri

Job Location: This position will be located at MOPERM 3425 Constitution Court, Jefferson City, MO

The position is with a risk pool that offers property and casualty coverage to Missouri public entities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to evaluate public entity operations, programs and properties for potential loss exposures, and interpret loss statistics.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

• Use MOPERM’s underwriting standards and guidelines to determine coverages necessary to protect potential or current members from loss exposure..
• Review and evaluate entity budgets, auto schedules, property schedules, and equipment schedules.
• Process policy change requests, statement of coverage requests, and other service requests.
• Consult with and advise MOPERM members, insurance producers, and public on coverages and other matters related to MOPERM.
• Prepare, maintain, and report comprehensive data including contribution and exposure data.
• Perform other work as assigned, including assisting with phone coverage.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Either a bachelor's degree or experience in insurance, underwriting, actuarial science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of underwriting process or general insurance principles.
