Summary of the Position

Falvey Insurance Group is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role goes beyond traditional accounting by combining financial reporting with data analysis, operational support, and process improvement. Position Functions

  • Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • Review premium trust account activity and perform trust account reconciliations.
  • Analyze premium and commission activity to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Support carrier, broker, and vendor reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate settlements.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, operations, claims, and IT departments to improve reporting and data quality
  • Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and continuously recommend process improvements
  • Reconcile financial data across accounting and operational systems, researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures for financial compliance.
  • Assist the compliance team with documentation and data requests from security auditors.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues in a timely manner
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses, operational reporting, and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position requires a candidate with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will excel in multitasking, possess strong mathematical and computational abilities, and demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques. Attention to detail is crucial for success in this role. Other skills include:

  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with basic accounting procedures and GAAP principles.
  • Basic knowledge of financial account statements.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and reconciling information from multiple systems.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • Staff Accountant candidates typically have 0–2 years of relevant accounting experience and demonstrate a strong foundation in core accounting principles.
  • Senior Accountant candidates typically have 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with increased responsibility for complex accounting activities, analysis and reporting, and support of month-end and year-end close processes.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit and operate a computer; answer and communicate on a telephone; operate scanner and copy machine.

Working Conditions

Business-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environment.

Hours of Operations

The work hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in a business-casual office environment. During the initial training period, the candidate must report to our North Kingstown office every weekday. As training progresses, the option for remote work will be available for two days per week on Monday and Friday.


The pay range for this role is:
50,000 - 80,000 USD per year(Headquarters)
