SUMMARY:

The Director of Quality and Risk Management is responsible for leading organizational compliance, risk management, and quality improvement functions. This role ensures adherence to all applicable federal and Massachusetts regulatory requirements across all of Gosnold’s programs. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous quality improvement, while ensuring readiness for audits, licensure reviews, and accreditation. The Director leads performance improvement initiatives, oversees quality and risk programs, and uses data analytics to improve patient outcomes, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a visible leader, effectively engaging executive leadership, the Board, and organizational stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute the organization's quality, risk, and compliance strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality team.
  • Oversee the organization's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accreditation standards.
  • Direct organizational readiness for audits, licensure reviews, and accreditation surveys.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting to drive performance improvement and support decision-making.
  • Build collaborative partnerships across departments to integrate quality and compliance practices.
  • Oversee organizational audits and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Direct document control processes to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the organization's risk management and compliance program.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into organizational policies and practices.
  • Direct incident reporting, investigations, and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
  • Oversee patient experience and grievance processes.
  • Provide operational oversight of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program.
  • Maintain the organizational risk register and lead enterprise risk assessments.
  • Ensure timely completion of all Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
  • Design and implement education related to quality improvement, compliance, ethics, privacy, and risk management.
  • Administer the Culture of Safety Survey and oversee action planning.
  • Conduct patient tracers, chart reviews, and other quality monitoring activities to support regulatory readiness.
  • Analyze findings and collaborate with departments to implement improvement plans.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Develop and revise policies, procedures, and processes to improve quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Measure organizational performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Serve as an organizational resource for quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports on quality indicators and performance improvement activities.
  • Oversee Medical Records operations and supervise Medical Records staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job.

  • Education: A master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Or Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) or willing to obtain certification within 12 months of commencing role.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years in a healthcare setting with experience in operations management, direct patient care, analysis, quality management and process improvement. Experience in program evaluation and performance improvement.
  • Skills: Demonstrates Personal integrity, credibility, and professionalism. Exceptional interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills success with ability to create partnerships at all levels within the organization. Strong presentation skills, technically proficient. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint), Power BI and experience using EHR. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Membership of ASHRM or local chapter of ASHRM.
