Job Description

Position Description: Purpose
As the connection point between our restaurants, employees, leadership team, and OPOC, you’ll keep the people side of the business running smoothly. You’ll bring accuracy, urgency, organization, and exceptional follow-through to payroll and benefits across multiple restaurant locations – ensuring employees are paid correctly, questions are answered, and critical information gets where it needs to go.
Salary: $ 75,000 – 80,000 + annual bonus program
Work Type: Hybrid, 3 days in office/2 days remote

Position Responsibilities: Payroll
  • Serve as the primary liaison with OPOC, audit payroll reports, and hold OPOC accountable for accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and employee records.
  • Oversee payroll for 800–1,000 employees across Virginia and Florida.
  • Communicate payroll totals per restaurant with the Controller.
  • Communicate with management teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates or positions.
  • Investigate any discrepancies between Toast time records submitted by managers and payroll
  • Responsible for accurately collecting, processing, and communicating employee pay rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, holidays, deductions, withholdings, address changes, and other payroll-related information to OPOC.
Benefits Administration
  • Primary liaison and contact with benefits brokers on various matters such as plan design, contract negotiations, coverage, and renewals.
  • Ensure that benefit plan agreements and contracts are accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with benefit brokers for the planning and execution of the annual Open Enrollment process.
  • Act as a liaison with benefit brokers to monitor benefits industry trends and implement best practices.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Work with OPOC for reports compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Work with OPOC to ensure ARP is compliant with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices at restaurant levels.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Track and report on key labor metrics within the organization (turnover rate, duration in position, etc.)
  • Lead the workers’ compensation process from initial reporting through resolution, partnering with employees, managers, and insurance companies to ensure timely claims management, accurate documentation, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Lead ARP’s safety committee.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Qualifications -
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, economics, business, or a related field, or an SHRM certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience within a payroll and benefits department, preferably supporting a multi-unit, high-volume hospitality or restaurant organization.
  • Proficient with Payroll and HRIS software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Must be able to work with highly sensitive and confidential information and material.
      • Must be dependable, reliable, and driven with minimal supervision.
        • Must be able to work well under pressure and be self-motivated.
          • Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
            • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
              • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
                • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
                  • Restaurant or hospitality experience is required.
                    • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function includes preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
