Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling AI-driven product environment, where data is transformed into actionable intelligence powering both analytics and machine learning capabilities. You will design and evolve robust, cloud-native data platforms that support large-scale contract data processing and advanced AI features. Working in a highly collaborative engineering organization, you will own the architecture and reliability of critical data pipelines and infrastructure. The position requires strong technical depth in distributed systems, cloud engineering, and data modeling, with a focus on scalability, compliance, and performance. You will also contribute directly to shaping data strategy, ensuring datasets are reliable, auditable, and optimized for both product and AI use cases. This is a high-impact role where engineering excellence directly accelerates product innovation and business outcomes.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that support analytics, AI, and machine learning initiatives across the organization.
- Design and implement scalable, cloud-based data infrastructure supporting analytics and AI/ML product features
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines, orchestration systems, and core datasets with strong reliability and reproducibility
- Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions and manage compliant, auditable data systems within cloud environments
- Architect data retention, deletion, and governance workflows aligned with legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure data systems support backfills, reprocessing, and long-term platform evolution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product and AI needs into scalable data solutions
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical documentation, and platform evolution strategy
- Support ongoing optimization of data workflows for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability
- Partner with engineering teams to enable machine learning workflows and data accessibility for AI features
- Participate in improving system reliability, observability, and operational excellence
The ideal candidate is a seasoned data or infrastructure engineer with strong cloud expertise, systems thinking, and the ability to deliver scalable, production-grade data platforms.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, infrastructure engineering, or data platform development
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and scalable architecture design
- Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Dagster, Airflow, Prefect) is a plus
- Familiarity with data warehouses or lakehouse systems (e.g., Athena, Snowflake, Iceberg)
- Strong programming skills (TypeScript or similar) and experience with production-grade systems
- Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to document and explain architectural decisions
- Experience supporting ML or AI data workflows (feature engineering, datasets, pipelines) is a strong asset
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC2-aligned systems)
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently in fast-moving environments
- Collaborative team player with a focus on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement
- Competitive compensation package (estimated base salary: 140,000 CAD – 210,000 CAD)
- Remote-first flexibility across Canada
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Mental health support allowance and wellness benefits
- Paid time off, including company-wide holiday shutdown periods
- Monthly meal support and annual wellness allowance
- Parental leave top-ups and family support programs
- Equity (stock options) as part of total compensation
- Opportunity to work on high-impact AI and data infrastructure at scale
- Inclusive, remote-friendly engineering culture focused on ownership and autonomy
