About the role
Cowtown SNIP - Spay and Neuter Center is responsible for providing a high level of care and support for BOTH our human clients and animal patients. This position combines client experience and patient care responsibilities and requires the ability to direct, prioritize, and manage multiple patients and client needs simultaneously in a fast-paced, surgery-heavy environment. Prior experience in a high-volume surgical or spay/neuter setting is strongly preferred. Soft skills include working with clients, patients, veterinarians, and animal hospital leadership. Aptitude and the ability to work in a fast- paced, innovative, and flexible environment are preferred. What you'll do
- The qualified animal care specialist will successfully perform the following functions:
- Greeting clients when entering the building.
- Moving patients from the lobby to exam rooms or kennels.
- Answering phones and text messages promptly.
- Managing the walk-in queue of clients and patients.
- Providing client experience support, including understanding client needs and providing instructions to clients as directed.
- Administering prescribed treatments.
- Running in-house laboratory samples.
- Drawing blood from standard venous access points.
- Placing IV catheters.
- Inducing and monitoring anesthesia.
- Inputting patient notes and charges into the practice management system.
- Maintaining knowledge of and effectively using practice management and telecommunication systems, including Shepherd and Mango telephone systems.
- Maintaining strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and company software programs.
- Maintaining the clinic in a clean and orderly state.
- Remaining cross-trained in basic client experience responsibilities, animal handling, and technical work.
- Additional duties as assigned.

- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism.
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Proven experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced animal surgical center.
- College degree preferred or 2-year technical degree.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment background check and drug screening, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
