Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant -- Renewable Energy

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant -- Renewable Energy based in United States.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead electrical engineering efforts for large-scale renewable energy projects, including utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems.
You will provide technical expertise across project development, design review, contractor evaluation, and owner’s engineering services.
The position combines engineering leadership, client collaboration, and innovative problem-solving within a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Working with developers, utilities, investors, and technical teams, you will help deliver reliable and cost-effective renewable energy solutions.
The role requires deep knowledge of electrical systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to guide complex engineering initiatives.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant will serve as the electrical engineering lead for renewable energy consulting engagements, supporting utility-scale solar and battery storage projects from development through execution. This role requires technical ownership, client-facing expertise, and the ability to provide guidance across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for owner’s engineer engagements involving utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects.
  • Develop solar and battery energy storage EPC request-for-proposal packages, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Evaluate EPC contractor proposals and provide technical recommendations to support contractor selection.
  • Provide electrical engineering support during EPC contract negotiations and project execution.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications for major electrical equipment, including transformers, BESS components, and PV collection system elements.
  • Review EPC contractor electrical design packages, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
  • Assess renewable energy electrical systems, including low-voltage DC and AC systems, AC collection systems, collector substations, interconnecting substations, and transmission connections.
  • Collaborate directly with project developers, owners, utilities, lenders, and investors to provide technical expertise and consulting support.
  • Guide engineering teams in adopting modern tools, automation approaches, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and design quality.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, including automation of engineering calculations, documentation workflows, and technical reviews.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive electrical engineering experience within renewable energy projects, strong consulting capabilities, and the ability to lead technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders. Success in this role requires a combination of engineering expertise, communication skills, and a forward-thinking approach to technology and process improvement.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.
  • Proven experience working on renewable energy projects as part of an EPC team or owner’s engineer organization.
  • Demonstrated involvement in at least one utility-scale project through development and IFC (Issued for Construction) design stages.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles for solar PV systems, battery storage systems, substations, and transmission interconnections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience guiding teams and collaborating with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment with multiple priorities.
  • Experience overseeing engineering automation initiatives or workflows using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, or AI-based solutions is valued.
  • Additional education or experience in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or related fields is a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
