Job Description
The Underwriting Assistant Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring underwriting accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company guidelines through comprehensive quality reviews, coaching, and the ongoing development of Assistant Underwriters. This role is instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive onboarding and training programs that promote technical proficiency, operational excellence, and continuous professional development within the underwriting team.
Reports To: Underwriter Assistant Supervisor
Duties/Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance
- Workflow Auditing, conducting monthly reviews of Underwriting Assistant workflows to verify they meet company guidelines
- Workflow Evaluation, monitoring workflow processes and assessment of improvements.
- Error Analysis, collecting and analyzing auditing data to identity root causes of errors, trends or need for process improvements
- Error resolution, main point of contact for errors found in processing procedures and its relation to skill assessment and/or training needs.
- Training
- Assisting UA Supervisor and management establishing and maintaining set standards
- Onboarding and training, designing training programs for new hires and tenured staff
- Skill assessments, continuous evaluation of employee performance and identifying areas of improvements/knowledge gaps
- Documentation, creating and/or maintenance of various Underwriting Assistant information as it relates to the role in addition to all tools required for role
- Communication, providing updates and/or changes to procedures or guidelines
- Quality Metrics, assisting the supervisor/leadership on monitoring KPI’s
- Collaboration & Communication
- Ability to work directly with team members and UA Supervisor
- Support rollout of new products, underwriting guidelines, systems, and process changes
- Perform other duties as requested.

- Knowledge of underwriting and processing (including rating) of Commercial and Personal Lines.

Education and Experience
- Four years of college preferred
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or similar (or progress toward) preferred
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, both in a home and office environment. The role involves frequent use of a headset, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment. Occasional movement within the office may be required, such as walking to meetings or accessing shared equipment.
Pay Range
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.
