Job Description

Azure DevOps Administrator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Azure DevOps Administrator based in Canada.

As an Azure DevOps Administrator, you will own the administration and evolution of a large-scale Azure DevOps environment supporting consistent, transparent delivery. You will build dashboards, workflows, and planning structures that help teams track progress and make informed decisions. The role combines hands-on platform administration with process governance, reporting, and Agile delivery support. You’ll work closely with delivery teams to improve backlog and sprint planning while maintaining strong data quality standards. Your work will also help streamline reporting through automation and live data integrations. This is a fully remote contract role within Canada, supporting a collaborative and delivery-focused environment.

Accountabilities
  • Administer Azure DevOps environments, including project setup, team configuration, area and iteration paths, permissions, and process templates.

  • Design and maintain dashboards using Azure DevOps and/or Power BI, leveraging live ADO data to provide clear delivery visibility.

  • Configure workflows, custom work item types, states, business rules, and automation to support effective delivery processes.

  • Support backlog management and sprint planning while guiding teams on Azure DevOps best practices and Agile ways of working.

  • Establish and maintain data quality, governance, and data-entry standards to ensure reliable reporting and consistent project information.

  • Develop lightweight automation and reporting solutions using KQL, REST APIs, or Power Automate to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.

  • Create and maintain clear process documentation, user guides, and training materials for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Support reporting and governance activities through accurate tracking, analysis, and communication of delivery information.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Azure DevOps (ADO) environments.

  • Demonstrated experience creating dashboards and reporting solutions using Azure DevOps and/or Power BI.

  • Strong knowledge of configuring workflows, work item types, states, rules, and automation within ADO.

  • Solid understanding of backlog management, sprint planning, and Agile delivery practices.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining data quality, governance, and data-entry standards.

  • Basic scripting, querying, or automation experience using KQL, REST APIs, or Power Automate.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Strong Excel skills for tracking, analysis, and reporting, combined with strong PowerPoint skills for executive-level presentations.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to turn technical processes into clear documentation and user guidance.

  • Strong organizational and stakeholder-management skills, with a structured and detail-oriented approach to work.

  • Current Government of Canada Reliability security clearance or higher is required at the time of application; eligibility for Secret clearance is preferred.

Benefits
  • Fully remote position within Canada.

  • Contract engagement from November 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027.

  • Compensation of CAD $75–$95 per hour.

  • Opportunity to support complex, real-world technology and delivery programs.

  • Collaborative environment with experienced professionals and opportunities for knowledge-sharing and mentorship.

  • Inclusive workplace committed to diversity, accessibility, and equitable hiring.

  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful client projects while working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Flexible remote working environment designed to support productive collaboration across Canada.
