Payroll and Benefits Specialist in Saint Louis, Missouri at Premier Charter School

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist plays an important role in supporting the employees of Premier Charter School by ensuring accurate and timely payroll and helping staff navigate their benefits. This position manages day-to-day payroll and benefits processes, maintains accurate employee records, responds to staff questions, and helps ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy with confidential information, and committed to providing responsive and helpful service to our staff.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience preferred.
• Experience in human resources, payroll, benefits, business operations, project management, finance, or a related area preferred.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and detailed processes.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills, with the ability to clearly explain information and respond to employee questions.
• Comfortable learning and working within HR, payroll, benefits, and other technology systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to research questions and learn new processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; experience with HRIS or payroll systems is a plus.
• Experience with Paylocity or school-based HR/payroll operations is a plus, but not required.
• Interest in supporting employees and contributing to the operations of a school community.
