About This Position

Job Summary:

Hilldrup’s Operation Specialist accountable for pricing and trafficking on international relocations. Manage, grow, and maintain relations with vendors, and partners. Revenue Responsibility. Hilldrup has an immediate need for an International Operations Specialist who under the supervision of the International Manager, communicates with local operations, warehouse, US agents, linehaul carriers, custom brokers, air/ocean carriers and overseas partners to ensure the proper handling of shipments and strict adherence to contract/policy specifications. The incumbent is accountable for pricing and trafficking on international relocations, and revenue. Managing, growing, and maintaining relationships with vendors, and partners.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for compiling data on transportation services such as rail, ocean, air and line haul carriers. Constructs competitive and accurate rate quotations within 24 hours or otherwise specified. Contacts, coordinates, and interprets overseas rate schedules. Confirms rates and services for all underlying transportation service providers.
  • Serves as liaison among Customer Service team, transportation service providers, Air/Ocean carriers, custom brokers and our US and global partner network.
  • Manage and book Ocean/Air freight with partners and ensure all documentation is accurate.
  • Manage consolidations with our partners, ocean carriers when needed to maximize profitability on a file.
  • Works in Hilldrup systems and prepares all necessary paperwork pertaining to shipments and updates orders through the Hilldrup Systems through completion of the file.
  • Works with the rates team to ensure you are using the preferred vendors – Linehaul carriers, custom brokers, etc.
  • Coordinate with US agents or overseas partners to ensure they are meeting Hilldrup’s requirements and account requirements for services. Build and maintain relationships with agents thru out the move and beyond.
  • Audit invoices from underlying carriers, which exceed projected costs and furnishes international revenue accounting with payment instructions.
  • Ensures that shipments are routed via quoted services and that all charges are correct by reviewing all invoices submitted by carriers.
  • Responsible for frequent communications with the Customer Service team throughout the relocation to maintain a high quality of customer service.
  • Responsible for reviewing all customs regulations and informing the customers service team of all necessary regulations, paperwork/documentation required for an international relocation.
  • Ensure notes are maintained and accurate thru out the entire move process so Customer Service team is always updated on the status.
  • Responsible for achieving adequate profit per file and minimizing loss.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct regular audits of company files and documents to ensure compliance with established standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong ability to work with numbers to negotiate pricing,
  • Ability to leverage business exchange levels in order to produce more revenue.
  • Must be able to operate effectively with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook is imperative.
  • Effective analytical, decision making, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to investigate business problems, develop effective recommendations, negotiate, present solutions and resolve problems in an efficient and professional manner.
Qualifications:

Required Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.

Required Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in freight forwarding/logistics preferably. Two or more years’ experience in international business preferred.

Work is performed in a typical, comfortable interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks.
