Buyer at Shippers Supply Inc – Golden Valley, Minnesota

1. Cost Negotiation: maximize gross margin by purchasing at lowest possible cost
   1. Negotiate transactional purchase orders of standard items
   2. Negotiate pricing of non-standard items
2. Inventory Management: support optimal inventory levels
   1. Review Replenishment program and reorder point to place purchase orders
   2. Review inventory turns to ensure inventory balance meets company goals
   3. Manage returns
   4. Collaborate with other departments to minimize aged inventory
3. On Time Delivery: ensure timely receipt of requested product for our customers, including:
   1. Review Create PO Screen to place orders meeting customer dates
   2. Review open purchase orders
   3. Work with vendors to ensure quick turnaround for rush orders
   4. Manage on-time delivery metric
4. Vendor Compliance: monitor vendor performance and follow up as needed
   1. Resolve issues related to order discrepancies, delays, or damaged goods
   2. Resolve invoice discrepancies
5. Other essential functions

2. Education and Experience
   1. A minimum of 2+ years in a purchasing or buying role
   2. High aptitude for working with numbers and analyzing data
   3. 2-year or 4-year business degree preferred
   4. Intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Salary Transparency

The pay range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 per year. Please note that the higher end of the pay range is reserved for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications that exceed the requirements of the role. Most new hires typically start at the beginning of the pay range, with opportunities for growth and increases based on performance and tenure.
