About This Position
POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, this position develops and maintains a supplier base that supports company objectives regarding quality, cost and production requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Source and select vendors for the purchase of parts at the most cost-effective price, ensuring the meeting of quality standards and delivery requirements.
- Creates purchase orders based on interpretation of JobBOSS reports and job packets to support manufacturing requirements.
- Process approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders.
- Monitor and address supplier performance related to delivery, quality, price or conditions of sale and escalate concerns to management.
- Meets annual cost savings objectives and leads savings projects as assigned by Supply Chain Manager.
- Supports New Product Development Process and obtains quotes upon request.
- Keeps up to date on all competitive pricing on all major purchases and negotiate with suppliers as required.
- Expedites purchases as needed.
- Assists with addressing and resolving the disposition of rejected and/or non-conforming parts.
- Addresses and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Reviews price, delivery, and trends to determine present and future material availability and escalates recommendation or concerns to leadership.
- Assists in disposal of surplus material or scrap products.
- Ensures purchases conform to the company quality system procedures as documented.
- Follows company purchasing procedures and best practices.
- Maintains accurate master data in JobBOSS.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires an Associate Degree and three to five years of related experience; or four years of high school and six to eight years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Computer experience and knowledge using Microsoft programs. Ability to learn JobBOSS manufacturing software.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret purchasing related documents such as catalogs, product-related literature, parts and materials specifications, and technical books and/or manuals. Ability to prepare reports, purchase orders and correspondence related to purchasing. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and with other employees of the organization. Ability to negotiate purchasing terms and conditions favorable to the organization.
- Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 40 pounds.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
Able to travel to other MultiSource locations and suppliers as needed.
