Job Description
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill two full-time Project Officer positions within our Energy, Infrastructure, and Resource Management Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Develop and oversee approved projects;
- Build relationships and communicate with MMF Citizens and Harvester to expand community-based programs;
- Coordinate work associated with the facilitation of meetings, community workshops, teleconferences, etc.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and letters for review by the Director;
- Research and review all relevant documents, policy, legislation, etc.
- Research and develop surveys and interview questions on climate concerns;
- Monitor and evaluate survey progress and performance using disposition reports and response rates;
- Coordinate travel for all related matters including tree planting, water and climate monitoring, and outreach activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma;
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., environmental or natural resource fields, geography, Indigenous studies, or project management) is considered an asset;
- Experience using Microsoft Office, with intermediate proficiency in Word and Excel;
- Previous experience working in an office, preferably with a non-profit Indigenous organization;
- Previous experience in community outreach and event organization;
- Previous experience in data research, analysis, and presentation, including report writing;
- Previous knowledge of historical and current Environmental and Indigenous issues;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
