EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – Internal/External

Human Resources Generalist

Full-Time Permanent

Location – Kenora

POSITION SUMMARY:

Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services (AAFS) is seeking a motivated and experienced HR Generalist to support the delivery of human resources services across the organization. Reporting to the People Strategy Manager, the HR Generalist contributes to employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, HRIS management, policy administration, performance management, employee engagement, and benefits coordination.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with managers and staff to support a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, organizational policies, and HR best practices.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide employee relations support, conflict resolution assistance, and guidance to staff and management.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding activities including job postings, interviews, candidate screening, and orientation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HRIS administration and reporting.
  • Assist with policy interpretation, compliance monitoring, and HR procedure updates.
  • Support performance management processes including performance appraisals and improvement plans.
  • Coordinate employee benefits administration and liaise with external providers.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition activities, and workplace events.
  • Assist with HR projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) to five (5) years of progressive HR experience, preferably in employee relations, recruitment, and HRIS administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional HR designation (CHRP/CHRL) considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract required.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin is preferred and considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work will primarily be performed in a typical office environment at AAFS headquarters in Kenora. The position may require flexibility in working hours, including evenings or weekends, to support operational requirements and organizational initiatives. The incumbent must be able to manage multiple priorities in a busy work environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Benefits: AAFS offers 4 weeks of paid vacation, Extended Health, Dental, AD&D, and Group Life benefits to this position after one month of employment as well as voluntary participation in our Pension Program

Salary Range: $58,475.83- $71,716.7
