About This Position

Summary of Position.

Team Relations (TR) Specialist manages the company’s relationships with its hourly employees. They oversee the full life cycle relationship from the employees hiring through the exit process. To better manage employee relations, TR leads the sourcing and selection process part, communicating Human Resources policies, conducting exit interviews and ultimately analyzing employee data and making recommendations for improvement. The TR incumbent will serve as an advocate for our hourly Team Members and Supervisors and serve balance in conflict resolution as needed. Team Relations Specialist will work in conjunction with and under the direction of the Human Resources Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and respond to employee concerns, complaints, and workplace conflicts
  • Serves as an advocate, liaison, and trusted advisor for Team Members in conflict resolutions and communications
  • Conduct timely investigations including interviews, documentation and video review, and fact-finding
  • Ensure consistent application of company guidebook, rules, and standards
  • Provide objective recommendations to leadership based on findings
  • Prepare investigative summaries and corrective action documentation and provide timely investigation summaries to HR Manager
  • Coach and guide leaders on progressive discipline, documentation best practices, attendance and performance management, and communication and professionalism
  • Participate in difficult conversations and corrective action meetings, when necessary
  • Escalate high risk situations to the TR AM and HR leadership when appropriate
  • Conduct HR investigations in a confidential, ethical, and consistent manner to include gathering and analyzing facts, interviewing involved parties, applying relevant laws, policies and past practice to reach conclusions, and making recommendations to TR and HR Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws as well as company policy
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and employment law changes and the potential impact of these changes or current and future compliance requirements
  • Oversee the corrective action process through tracking of attendance, performance, and policy.

  • Assist with internal company communication, including communication boards, TVs, and broadcast messaging as assigned / directed.
  • Facilitate team member engagement, recognition/reward programs, and company sponsored events
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, audits, and morale programs
  • Participate in community engagement activities as approved
  • Maintain consistent, regular presence on the work floor
  • Facilitate the employee termination process including exit interviews and outboarding
  • Assist the TR AM with managing the company team wear program
  • Assist EHS with all safety related activities including, but not limited to OSHA compliance, training, enforcement, investigations, and documentation
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing and the new hire process
  • Ensure hiring decisions align with company standards and expectations
  • Participating in new hire orientation including onboarding, policy acknowledgement, and introductory period evaluations
  • Maintain highly confidential employee information and documents
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws as well as company policy
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and employment law changes and the potential impact of these changes or current and future compliance requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1-3 Years’ experience in Human Resources or Team Relations
  • Experience within an automotive production or manufacturing facility preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws, and current HR practices and procedures
  • Strong analytical/Problem solving abilities
  • Strong consultative, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to be collaborative, build positive relationships and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
  • Strong personal alignment with internal ethics, integrity and deep respect for confidentiality

Technical/ Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • SAP/ERP knowledge is strongly preferred
