Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, supervising production employees, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining quality standards, promoting workplace safety, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures efficient workflow, employee accountability, and compliance with company policies and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of production employees.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure production goals are achieved.
- Ensure products are manufactured according to quality standards and specifications.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily production meetings and communicate operational expectations.
- Train, coach, and develop production team members.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and performance.
- Address employee concerns and assist with conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and warehouse departments to resolve operational issues.
- Review production reports and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to support production demands.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and records.
- Assist with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and other applicable regulations.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises production employees within assigned department or shift.
- Responsible for employee training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
- Assists in hiring and onboarding activities.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of manufacturing or production experience.
- 3-5 years of prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations.
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to lead teams in a changing environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / production facility environment.
- May require overtime, weekends, or shift work based on business needs.
