Press Operator I at GITI TIRE USA LTD – Richburg, South Carolina

Job Summary

Loads and unloads tire curing machines as needed to vulcanize tires, as well as monitor process to ensure continuous operation.

Essential Duties & Functions

• Inspect product to ensure high quality as needed
• Operate equipment to meet SOP standards to ensure proper operations and quality products by monitoring equipment continuously and adjusting as require
• Turn controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure
• Press control buttons to activate machinery and equipment
• Monitor machine operations and observe lights and gauges to detect malfunctions
• Clear jams, and remove defective or substandard materials or products
• Scan tires into presses when required
• Record and maintain press checks
• Remove tires from molds
• Swab molds with solutions to prevent products from sticking
• React quickly to equipment downtime or other extraordinary condition, and must notify supervision whenever such conditions occur
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
• Notifies team lead of machine malfunction
• Follow all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department
• Follow established company and department policies, procedures, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines
• Performs other job duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications

• Must possess basic skills to setup, load and unload tires from manual and automated equipment with little supervision.
• Must possess basic computer skills
• Ability to operate with speed and accuracy, and maintain a team player attitude

• Demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
• Requires strong communication, interpersonal
• Must have the ability to and expedite solutions when situations arise
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not expected to have supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

• HS or GED required
• Demonstrated problem solving ability
• Experience operating conventional machines and working in a production-oriented and results driven environment is applicable

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment may be noisy.
