Epsilon Systems Solutions specializes in Systems and Software Engineering for intelligence/defense systems. We are seeking a highly skilled an experienced Staff Engineer to lead the development, production, and sustainment of flat panel display systems for military and defense applications including Navy shipboard combat and control systems, subsea platforms, and ground and tactical vehicle systems.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or Computer Engineering, with extensive experience in ruggedized electronics, display technologies, quality systems, ISO compliance, and production operations within both R&D and manufacturing environments. This role requires a senior-level engineering professional capable of bridging product development, laboratory testing, production support, and regulatory compliance in mission-critical defense programs.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, integration, and production support of ruggedized flat panel display systems for military and industrial applications.
Support full product lifecycle activities from concept development through qualification, production, deployment, and sustainment.
Provide technical leadership in hardware engineering, display integration, system validation, and production readiness activities.
Oversee engineering activities within laboratory, prototype, and production environments.
Develop and maintain engineering documentation including:
Specifications
Test procedures
Validation plans
Failure analysis reports
Manufacturing work instructions
Configuration management documentation
Drive compliance with the AP West quality management system and applicable ISO standards, including ISO 9001:2015.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities for production and field issues.
Collaborate closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Defense customers to ensure product performance and compliance.
Design to, and support customer and prime-integrator qualification testing against, applicable environmental and ruggedization standards including:
MIL-STD-810
MIL-STD-461
Shock and vibration testing
Thermal and environmental qualification
Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, yield performance, and product reliability.
Support supplier qualification, component selection, and engineering change management processes.
Participate in technical design reviews, production readiness reviews, and customer-facing engineering discussions.
Serve as the senior technical authority for AP West — approving engineering designs, configuration baselines, and deviations, and representing AP West technically to customers, primes, and auditors.
Support Business Development with technical content for Requests for Quote, proposals, and build-to-print and sole-source responses.
Lead component obsolescence, sole-source risk, and alternate-source qualification efforts across the display product lines.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cross-functional engineering teams.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex hardware, system integration, and production-related issues.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
15+ years of engineering experience in defense, aerospace, ruggedized electronics, or related high-reliability industries.[C1.1]
Strong experience developing or supporting ruggedized display systems, embedded hardware, or military-grade electronics.
Extensive experience working within:
Production/manufacturing environments
Research & Development (R&D) laboratory environments
Strong knowledge of quality systems and compliance frameworks including ISO 9001:2015
Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
Experience supporting military or defense hardware qualification and environmental testing, including build-to-spec programs in which the prime or end customer performs qualification of the integrated system.
Strong understanding of:
Electronic hardware systems
Display technologies (LCD, LED, TFT, touchscreen integration)
Power systems
Embedded systems
Signal integrity
Thermal management
Experience with production engineering, process improvement, and manufacturing support.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
Experience with failure analysis, reliability engineering, and product validation.
Familiarity with configuration management and engineering change processes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience with Navy shipboard, subsea, or military vehicle integration programs.
Familiarity with tactical display systems, command-and-control hardware, or vehicle electronics.
Experience supporting DoD contracts and defense acquisition programs.
Knowledge of IPC standards and electronics manufacturing best practices.
Experience with environmental qualification labs and EMI/EMC testing.
Familiarity with FPGA, embedded computing platforms, or GPU-based display systems.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred.
Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Ability to work on U.S. defense-related programs subject to ITAR restrictions.
Ability to work within secure engineering and production environments.
Work Environment:
Combination of laboratory, engineering development, and manufacturing floor environments.
Hands-on work with prototype and production hardware systems.
Occasional travel to customer sites, test facilities, or military integration locations may be required.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $140,000 - $155,000 annually. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.
Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).
Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, standing, and walking.
Ability to travel by car, air or other means of transportation, if required.
