The FPGA Engineer for our Products line is responsible for assisting in the design of cutting-edge components for space and national security applications including Software Defined Radios, Digital Processing Systems, Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers and Laser Communications.

The position reports to the VPof Product Design and is part of the Engineering department. This role is onsite and based in San Diego, CA. Relocation assistance may be provided to qualified candidates.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Designing and testing complex, high speed, FPGA (mostly Xilinx) designs implementing high-throughput algorithms.
  • Designing and testing embedded applications using the Xilinx Zynq family.
  • Developing architectures compatible with embedded Linux environments.
  • Designing and supporting top-level system simulations.
  • Translating system requirements into FPGA architectures.
  • Implementing and documenting FPGA designs using HDL (VHDL, System Verilog, etc.).
  • Supporting systems integration and Test Engineering to produce functional designs.
  • Implementing and contributing to the architecture of current and next generation multi-megapixel camera systems, interfacing with the Camera Link and SpaceWire standards.
  • Designing systems capable of handling Imager data and Image processing (Embedded Camera Development).
  • Creating test plans to assure integrated performance meets specification.

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with firmware design, integration, & test (preferably with the Xilinx family)
  • Experience with implementing and documenting FPGA designs using HDL (VHDL, System Verilog, etc.).
  • Experience with lab equipment
  • Experience drafting comprehensive technical documentation
  • Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects & supporting production activities
  • Strong technical background; capable of coming up-to-speed quickly on new technologies.
  • Good communication, with the ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance

The good faith base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $185,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
