POSITION SUMMARY

The Hospitality Manager oversees daily tasting room operations, ensures consistent and elevated guest experiences, and leads a portion of the hospitality team. Each Hospitality Manager specializes in at least one of three functional areas: Administration & Reporting, Operations & Logistics, or Training & Team Development, while contributing to shared responsibilities across the tasting room.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration & Reporting

• Interview, hire, schedule, and manage tasting room staff.

• Track and reconcile daily sales, tips, and cash-handling procedures.

• Maintain and monitor scheduling software and staff timekeeping records.

• Report performance data on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to senior leadership.

• Ensure ongoing compliance with TABC regulations and applicable labor law.

Operations & Logistics

• Monitor facilities, grounds, parking, and overall environmental presentation.

• Manage tasting room wine and merchandise inventory, including reorder processes.

• Oversee execution of events in collaboration with the Wine Club and Events teams.

• Support menu and guest-experience planning as needed.

• Direct logistics for tasting room operations and on-site events.

Training & Team Development

• Provide real-time coaching and performance management using established KPIs.

• Lead regular team meetings to support morale, communication, and ongoing education.

• Collaborate with the Director of Education on training programs and elevated guest experiences.

• Participate in performance reviews, onboarding, and mentorship of new hires.

Shared Responsibilities

• Maintain the readiness of tasting spaces, including cleanliness, presentation, and inventory.

• Respond to and resolve guest concerns through effective service recovery.

• Lead tasting room operations during peak periods.

• Communicate company vision, values, goals, and culture consistently to the team.

• Deliver an outstanding experience to members, guests, and prospective members.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior hospitality and/or business leadership experience, or successful completion of the Manager-in-Training (MIT) program.

• Demonstrated strength in at least one functional area, with expected growth into additional areas over time.

• Exceptional communication, team-building, and organizational skills.

• Working knowledge of wine service, hospitality systems, and inventory practices.

• Proven track record in guest satisfaction, team development, and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Minimum 2–5 years of wine industry experience in a customer-facing hospitality role.

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience planning and executing hospitality events.

• Ability to communicate clearly with managers, employees, vendors, and guests.

• Safe Food Handling Certification (Company-provided course available).

• TABC Server Certification (Company-provided course available).

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions relevant to business needs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• WSET Level 2, CMS Certified Sommelier, or equivalent credential.

• Experience in an upscale wine program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Office environment for administrative work.

• Climate-controlled indoor tasting rooms.

• Outdoor events at various locations, not climate controlled.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Extended periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer and phone.

• Extended periods of standing and walking.

• Ability to negotiate uneven, outdoor surfaces.

• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. repeatedly.

TRAVEL AND REMOTE WORK

• Occasional travel to off-site locations; overnight travel is not typically required except for select events or training.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) (executive/administrative exemption, as applicable) and the Texas Payday Law. Exempt employees are paid a predetermined salary and are not eligible for overtime compensation, provided the applicable duties and salary-basis tests continue to be met. Classification is reviewed periodically to confirm continued compliance with FLSA and Texas Workforce Commission rules.
