About This Position

Position Title: Draftsman

Location Houston, Texas

Description: New Tech Global is currently seeking a Draftsman for a contract position in Houston, TX.
The Draftsman will develop models and details and maintain 3D database of company Drilling Rig components. Models and details will include structural, mechanical, and piping components. Develop 3D library of parts, update existing 3D rig components, and collaborate with Engineering, Special Projects, Rig Construction, and Operations personnel on rig component design and modifications. Work will extend to sketching existing components in field, rig yard, or supplier facilities, to new design development of rig components.

Job Requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage with all levels of management, colleagues, and with individuals inside and outside of the Company
  • Strong computer skills with ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software, e.g. MS Word, Power Point, Projects, Excel etc., and other discipline specific-software applications to drive efficiency in productivity
  • Self-motivated, flexible with workload
  • Strong team-oriented skill set

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of recent experience in 3D modeling and detailing using AutoDesk Inventor/ AutoCAD.
  • 2 years of experience working with structural steel, piping, and basic fabrication processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS/AS degree in Engineering/Design/Drafting program
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Familiar with AISC, API, AWS standards
  • Relevant experience in the oil and gas rig building industry


Work Environment:
This position requires the person to be able to work in a time sensitive, high visible role and must be able to work closely with others and manage customer interaction in a professional manner. Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) and while utilizing designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
