Work Schedule: Full time, in a production environment
Job Overview:

In this role, you will utilize tools such as Solid Edge and AutoCAD to prepare detailed design drawings for components, assemblies, and complex custom equipment. Drawings will include all required views and manufacturing details to support production, installation, and quality requirements.
The information necessary to complete assignments will be derived from engineering-provided data, 3D models, engineering specifications, sketches, marked prints, field measurements, and verbal direction. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, technically strong, and capable of transforming concepts into clear, accurate, production-ready documentation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Equipment Drafting & Design Support
- Create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for custom equipment, machinery, tooling, fixtures, and production systems.
- Develop drawings with flat patterns, tolerances, and manufacturability considerations.
- Produce mechanical layouts, exploded views, BOMs, and installation drawings.
- Apply proper GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Specify appropriate surface finishes, coatings, materials, and hardware.
- Interpret and apply weld symbols and weld callouts per AWS standards.
- Support reverse engineering of existing equipment and legacy drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering on design improvements, cost reductions, and manufacturability.
Facilities Drafting & Layout Support
- Create facility layouts including xrefs, floor plans, equipment placement, workflow optimization, and utility routing.
- Produce drawings for electrical, HVAC, compressed air, plumbing, and process piping coordination.
- Support space planning and capacity expansion initiatives.
- Maintain accurate as-built production drawings.
Documentation & Standards
- Ensure all drawings comply with internal drafting standards and industry best practices.
- Maintain revision control, engineering change documentation, and drawing databases.
- Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Standardize templates, title blocks, symbols, and drafting procedures.
- Verify drawing accuracy before release to production or contractors.
General Requirements
- Meet required deadlines
- Catalog final drawings in computer files as per company procedures
- Perform tasks to assist Engineers such as initial drawings or diagrams
- Train others on drafting standards and processes
- Develop Drafting and Engineering document control procedures / documentation
- Other reasonably related duties

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of BIM tools and process
- 3D modeling experience
- Working knowledge of manufacturing theory and process
- Specializing in mechanical systems integration
- Recreational vehicle or emergency vehicle documentation experience
Education and Experience:
- Trained in Drafting or other related technical field (Associates Degree a plus)
- 10+ years Drafting experience
- 2D/3D mechanical drafting experience preferred using AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Solid Works, or other design/drafting software
Supervision Required: Minimal
Supervisory Responsibilities: May lead project teams in areas of responsibility
