Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary

Job Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician and contribution to the organization and team is responding and completing tasks designated in each respective department (i.e. Dispensing, Data Entry, IV). Routinely applies critical thinking skills and effectively initiates resolution to problems identified by the customer or within departmental environments. Work cohesively within designated department to effectively promote teamwork.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of the Pharmacy Technician position include, but not limited to:

  • Gain and maintain the knowledge required to independently work within their designated department and tier requirements.
  • Customer Service
    1. Routinely applies telephone etiquette with peers and customers. Greeting, tone of communication and problem-solving concerns are professional.
  • Use of Company Resources Appropriately
    1. Computer equipment
    2. Internet usage
    3. Reports and forms
    4. Framework
    5. Automation hardware and software
  • Compliance with Company policy and procedures
    1. Attendance at Department meetings
    2. Compliance with company handbook regulations (i.e. dress code, recording your time, conduct of behavior, etc.)
    3. Wears ID badge and enters time clock information as required.
  • Compliance with Company Communication Practices
    1. Routinely checks email communication and responds timely to emails.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements

  • License
    1. Maintains current Pharmacy Technician license by the State of Indiana
  • Performs Fraud, Waste and Abuse annually
  • Education
    1. High School Graduate
  • Language Skills
    1. Ability to speak English
    2. Read and interpret documents
    3. Speak effectively with co-workers and customers
  • Mathematical Skills
    1. Demonstrate the ability to perform the arithmetic calculations required for usual dosage and days supply determination
  • Computer Literacy
    1. Proficient with Keyboarding/Typing
    2. Data Base Software
    3. Order processing systems
    4. Word Processing software
    5. Internet Software
    6. Use of electronic mail (e-mail)
  • Interpersonal Communication
    1. Ability to communicate information with peers and customers
    2. Maintain and achieve sound business relationships
    3. Maintain professional working environment.
    4. Treat all co-workers with respect.

Mental, Physical, and Work Environment Requirements

The position may require frequent sitting, long periods of standing, walking with continuous use of hands to finger, reaching with hands and arms movements. Close vision activity may be required with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. The overall work environment has moderate noise and can lead to excessive noise levels depending on the area of concentration (i.e. co-worker conversation, use of office equipment, automation and machinery).
