Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect to join our technology team. This critical role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, owning the end-to-end design of solutions. The Solutions Architect will ensure that projects and features are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals and established enterprise architecture standards.
This is a strategic role responsible for aligning technology with business objectives. The Solutions Architect ensures all investments contribute to a cohesive, scalable, and resilient enterprise architecture. They will independently manage and deliver end-to-end designs from concept to completion, provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering team members, and establish technology standards, patterns, and principles within the Software Engineering team.
Roles & Responsibilities
Application Architecture
- Solution Design: Lead conceptual and detailed design of new applications, features, and integrations. Create comprehensive architectural documentation (blueprints, diagrams, models) to guide development teams.
- Requirements Translation: Translate complex business needs and user stories into effective technical requirements and architectural components.
- Technology Selection: Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, cloud services, integration patterns, and third-party tools.
- Performance & Scalability: Ensure architectures are designed for high performance and horizontal scalability to support growth.
- Technical Governance: Ensure solutions adhere to standards for performance, security, scalability, and enterprise architecture alignment.
Data Architecture
- Data Solution Design: Design end-to-end data flows and architecture, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption.
- Technology Selection: Choose appropriate data technologies (SQL, NoSQL, data lakes, data warehouses) and cloud services based on requirements.
- Data Modeling: Define conceptual and logical data models to ensure performance, maintainability, and alignment with solution needs.
- Integration Strategy: Define integration mechanisms (APIs, message queues, ETL/ELT) to connect solutions with enterprise systems, CRMs, and reporting tools.
- Security & Compliance: Design data security measures (encryption, access controls, auditing) to meet regulatory and organizational standards.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee the organization’s application portfolio, identify redundancies, optimize IT costs, and drive modernization efforts such as application rationalization and technical debt reduction.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for development, QA, and operations teams.
- Mentor engineering staff on architectural best practices and patterns.
Risk Management
- Identify architectural and design risks early and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure stability, security, and scalability.
- Conduct technical reviews of in-flight projects.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of experience in software development or engineering roles, including at least 3 years in Solution Architecture or Lead Technical Architecture.
- Proven ability to design large-scale, complex enterprise systems across application, data, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Expertise in public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS) and cloud-native solution design.
- Strong command of data modeling, networking, security principles, and the full SDLC.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to articulate technical decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and research skills.
- Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar certifications.
Preferred
- Experience leading application rationalization, modernization, and/or replacement initiatives.
- TOGAF or Zachman Certification.
