Principal Product Manager, Industrial AI - Aerospace and Defense

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Product Manager, Industrial AI - Aerospace and Defense based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of AI-powered industrial solutions within highly complex and mission-critical environments.
You will define product strategy for AI initiatives supporting aerospace, defense, aviation maintenance, and asset-intensive industries.
The position combines deep product leadership, domain expertise, market analysis, and collaboration with engineering and data science teams.
You will translate customer challenges into innovative AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and decision-making.
Working closely with customers, executives, and cross-functional teams, you will influence product direction and long-term business growth.

Accountabilities:

The Principal Product Manager will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of Industrial AI product initiatives, ensuring solutions address real customer needs while meeting the highest standards for safety, compliance, and business value. This role requires strong product ownership, market understanding, and the ability to influence teams across the organization.

  • Define and execute the long-term product strategy and operating model for Industrial AI solutions across aircraft, engine, and component maintenance environments.
  • Identify market opportunities through competitive research, customer insights, and market sizing analysis, including TAM/SAM/SOM assessments.
  • Engage with airlines, maintenance providers, original equipment manufacturers, and defense operators to gather requirements and validate AI-enabled product concepts.
  • Apply expertise in aviation maintenance, asset management, compliance, and regulated operations to shape product requirements and priorities.
  • Establish AI governance frameworks, quality standards, safety practices, and responsible AI guidelines for mission-critical applications.
  • Partner with engineering, data science, and product teams to define AI-native capabilities, workflows, and scalable delivery approaches.
  • Create product requirements documentation, AI feature strategies, and best practices to support consistent execution across teams.
  • Develop investment cases, financial models, portfolio strategies, and business cases to prioritize AI initiatives.
  • Own portfolio performance and contribute to product profitability through strategic planning and prioritization.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, pricing approaches, and sales enablement plans for Industrial AI solutions.
  • Present product roadmaps, investment priorities, and strategic recommendations to senior executives and leadership stakeholders.
  • Mentor and influence product teams while driving collaboration across business, technical, and customer-facing functions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced product leader with a strong background in enterprise or industrial software, AI-enabled products, and complex operational environments. You should combine strategic thinking, technical understanding, and strong communication skills to successfully lead cross-functional initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field; MBA experience is a plus.
  • 10+ years of product management, product leadership, or related strategic experience.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise software, industrial technology, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, asset-intensive, or regulated industry products.
  • Experience developing and launching AI-enabled solutions such as predictive maintenance, digital twins, or AI-assisted operational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of aviation maintenance, industrial operations, asset management, or other regulated environments is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex domains and collaborate effectively with subject matter experts.
  • Experience defining AI governance, validation approaches, and responsible AI practices for compliance-sensitive or safety-critical environments.
  • Strong experience with market analysis, financial modeling, business case development, and portfolio prioritization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, coach product teams, and drive outcomes across cross-functional organizations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience engaging customers, executives, and senior leadership.
