CNC Machinist in waukegan, Illinois at Peer Chain Company

PEER Chain & Sprockets is a family-owned industrial chain and sprocket supplier based in Waukegan, Illinois, providing high-quality products for power transmission, conveying, and lifting applications since 1969. Ours is not a typical production environment. We are more of a custom job shop. Therefore, you must be able to do your own set up and programming. The machinist will be responsible for writing CNC programs and to make parts that fully meet all required specifications. Their duties include setting up equipment, operating equipment, and inspecting finished parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Software and machinery used
• Must be able to program with G & M codes.
• Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes, and milling machines
• Knowledge of Lathe and Mill Equipment and Tooling
• Knowledge and understanding of GD&T
• Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations
• Analyzing drawings and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the requirements
• Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
• Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing process
• Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
• Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
• Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
• Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop
• Must be able to machine the chuck jaws.
• Must be able to zero the Y axis.
• Perform various secondary operations such as light assembly, part trimming, and packaging
• Ability to move 50 to 70 pounds and remain stationary throughout a shift

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

· Peer Chain uses a Haas ST 20 CNC Lathe

· Measurement tools

· Microsoft Office Software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Oracle NetSuite System

WORK LOCATION:

· Position works out of headquarters located in Waukegan, IL USA

This position pays a minimum of $25. A qualified candidate will make more than this.
